Command Sergeant Major Engram began his career in the United States Army in August 1986 upon the completion of Infantry Basic Training (OSUT) at Fort Benning, Georgia

CSM Engram served as a Rifleman, Team Leader, Squad Leader, Drill Sergeant, Senior PLDC Instructor, Platoon Sergeant, Operations Sergeant, First Sergeant, Senior Military Science Instructor at Lincoln University, 1-34th Infantry Battalion Command Sergeant Major, 2-39th Infantry Battalion Command Sergeant Major, 1-8th Infantry Battalion Command Sergeant Major, 189th Infantry Brigade Command Sergeant Major, and the Regimental Command Sergeant Major of 2D Cavalry Regiment. His most recent assignment was as the United States Army Infantry School Command Sergeant Major from August 2014 – September 2016.

CSM Engram has served in numerous units throughout his career. His previous assignments include 1-9th infantry Battalion, Camp Greaves, Korea; 2-502nd Infantry Battalion, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; 533rd Military Intelligence Battalion (LRSD), Frankfurt, Germany; 5-502nd Infantry Battalion, Berlin, Germany; 1-28th Infantry Battalion, Fort Jackson, South Carolina; NCO Academy Fort Drum, New York; 1-506th Infantry Battalion, Camp Greaves, Korea; 3-502nd Infantry Battalion, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Lincoln University, Jefferson City, Missouri; 1-34th Infantry Battalion, Fort Jackson, South Carolina; 2-39th Infantry Battalion, Fort Jackson, South Carolina; 1-8th Infantry Battalion, Fort Carson , Colorado; 189th Infantry Brigade, JBLM, Washington; and 2D Cavalry Regiment, Rose Barracks, Germany. His combat tours include Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom III-IV and X-XI, and Operation Enduring Freedom XIII-XIV.

CSM Engram is a graduate of the Warrior Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Senior Leader Course, Basic Airborne Course, Air Assault Course, Rappel Master Course, Ranger Course, Combat Lifesaver Course, Army Basic Instructor Course, Drill Sergeant School and holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Saint Leo University, Saint Leo, Florida.

His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit (2 oak leaf clusters), the Bronze Star (2 oak leaf clusters), the Meritorious Service Medal (5 oak leaf clusters), the Army Commendation Medal (6 oak leaf clusters), the Army Achievement Medal (5 oak leaf clusters), the Ranger Tab, Combat Infantryman Badge (with star) and Expert Infantryman Badge. CSM Engram is a recipient of the Order of Saint Maurice (Primicerius).
